Hi Friends; Well I just have to tell you about my evening last night. I had the pleasure of sitting in our studio and listening to the freshly mastered copy of “Budz”. It just arrived from the mastering studio. This was the first time I actually got a chance to sit and listen to it as a whole album. Oh my my, what a concert. I am so excited for our fans to hear this new album. It sounds amazing and it rocks, telling stories at the same time. We had a blast writing and recording “Budz” and the album celebrates 20 years with the same three guys.

Coming Soon ………..An all new original album of songs written and performed by The AB3 ….."Budz".

Celebrating 20 years together ……."Budz"

BUDZ

Hi Everyone. The AB3 have been celebrating 20 years creating new music and playing together (same 3 guys). We just threw a party at The Heartwood Hall in Owen Sound Ontario. What a blast. The amazing Sam & Robin did the opening honors. They did a great job warming the crowd up. We had a blast! Thanks to everyone involved who helped make our party a success.

Special thanks to Greg and all the gang at the Heartwood Hall.

"BUDZ" is on the way!

So.......lots to talk about. The summer of 2022 is over and it has been busy. The music scene is starting to open up after the pandemic and musicians are getting back to work. The AB3 has played at Port Elgin beach, the Hippy Reunion in Hanover several big private parties. We have been hosting jam sessions with other musicians such as Richard Knechtel, Sam & Robin, Phil Jones, Larry White, Brad Smith all talented musicians and dear friends. Several recording projects have gone down in the studio including albums from Justin Burgess, a demo by Kailey Hawkins and more. Check them out.

Also, I want to give you a heads up. Big news! The AB3 started life by taking songs we loved in the past and creating our own arrangements of these. One album "Dubious" was fully recorded after nearly a year's work. It was put on the back burner as we had amassed a lot of original music. We wanted to get to our original stuff so "Dubious" got shelved. We then released "Shake!" and later "Roach 5". Justin re-discovered these lost recordings of "Dubious" and decided to re-mix and re-master the tracks as a birthday present to me. WoW! Listening to the result, we just had to release these songs to the world. Tracks include Proud Mary, I Thank You, Shaky Ground, Got My Mojo Workin featuring Rod Ramsey on harmonica and Moondance featuring Robert Gasidlo on electric piano. I am hoping we can do a December 24th release as a Christmas present to all of you. There is a process to license these songs for our use and "Dubious" is in that process now. We hope to be fully licensed for the album shortly. I will give you all a heads up when it's ready.

Until then, Visit often, We love our fans;

Andy

So……..picture this; I was 21 years old and had been playing in home town bands since I was 14. I was invited to join my big brother Dave's new group “The New Feeling”, a real professional show band. We left for our first gig in Kirkland Lake Ontario. We removed the seats from his 68 Fury and I had to sit in the back on the record player squashed between the leslie speaker cabinet and the door. The car was so full of equipment there was no room at all. I was so stiff when we arrived 6.5 hrs later, I could hardly stand up. When we started playing our first set, the adrenaline kicked in and all was fine. For the next 6 months or so, this was how I travelled with the group.

The AB3 Blog

Hi all you AB3er's out there. I want to tell you about a really cool experience we (The AB3) had last week. We went to the Big Bay Audio / Video studio in Big Bay Ontario on the beautiful Bruce Peninsula. There we met Adam Ferri, the engineer / owner. He made us very comfortable in his state of the art video studio. A great guy. Big Bay is a great place to record video and a wonderful place to visit with it's panoramic view of the bay right outside the studio. Once we got all our gear set up, we started in playing. We recorded five songs along with full video (live performance). Of coarse when these are finished with post production, we will release them to the world wide web. Watch for an announcement from our web site soon. Hope you all are healthy and having a great thanksgiving 2021 Andy

The AB3 Blog

Hi there AB3 fans; As this is my first blog, and the first chance you have had to learn about how we create the music we do, I thought I would take the opportunity to tell you all about it.

After the band I was working in self destructed and the band Justin was travelling with also folded, we decided it was time to do something together.

We set some rules. Let's learn songs we had loved and always wanted to play, but do it in our own way. Never go back and listen to the original. Play the parts we remembered. Follow the music where it wanted to go. Sometimes this would lead to mashing up with other songs, changing the chord progressions. We used orchestral type arrangements using mostly our own instruments, guitar, bass and drums. Also, we incorporated space. This method makes the arrangements sound like more instruments and more interesting. We recorded several of these songs on two albums (unreleased) called, "Smokin'" and "Das Ubbermann". We liked the sound of these and decided to continue, as this was a lot of fun.

We then enlisted Peter Novar on bass as he was on the same wavelength, had the same kind of musical background and was excited to try this method. The magic was there. Shortly thereafter we made a cd titled "Contraband" mostly for our friends. The title comes from the fact that all the songs were cover tunes we really mangled and formed into The AB3 material. This was so much fun that we started on another album immediately. We completed the album and named it "Doubious". This album was never released because we came to the realization that we could do more.

We should write our own music!

Andy

Stay tuned and learn the unique way we wrote "Shake!" and "Roach 5"
